The Environmental Policy Program conducts scholarly research and provides policy consulting to the government and the private sector with the objective of enhancing the quality of environmental policy in Georgia and throughout the nation.

One of the most dynamic collaborations, in partnership with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory with Dr. David Bjornstad, generates research in the areas of environmental policy and experimental economics. Under this agreement, the program conducts joint research and exchange of faculty.

An experimental economics laboratory enhances the research resources of the faculty as well as educational opportunities for graduate students in the program.

A water resources policy center generates significant studies on water resource management issues. The newest partnership with Albany State University houses the Flint River Water Planning and Policy Center.
An air quality program examines the costs of various options available for ozone reduction in the Atlanta area, and estimates the impact each regulatory control option may have on employment and income.
The pollution prevention program, examines the long term prospect for developing an economically and environmentally sound program assisting Georgia in the reuse, and recycling of scrap tires, and the revitalization of toxic industrial sites.

As a testament to its effectiveness as a research instrument, the Program receives substantial funding from both public and private sector organizations, including the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation and the Georgia Research Alliance as well as from the State of Georgia.
